A minimum of 45 hours must be obtained. Of these hours, a minimum of 17 hours must be Dual, of which 3 hours must include dual cross country time and 5 hours of instrument time. A minimum of 12 hours must be Solo, which must include 5 hours of cross country time.
A minimum of 20 hours of flight training is required, 10 of which must be night flying, 5 must be dual including a minimum of 2 hours cross country. 5 hours must be solo, this must include a minimum of 10 takeoffs and landings.
You must already possess a PPL with a Category 1 or 3 medical. There is no minimum flight time required for training. A flight test must be passed with a designated examiner, but no written exam is required.
A total of 40 hours of instrument time must be accumulated. 20 hours of this can be completed in Cooking Lake Aviation’s Flight Simulator. Instrument time accumulated during the Private, Night and Commercial training can be used towards this rating.
Cooking Lake Aviation Services is more than happy to provide instruction on privately owned aircraft. This could be for initial training for a license or rating. This could also be to cover the checkout requirements for insurance on a particular aircraft.
